First top star injured for the rest of the European Championship – football

Bitter news for France. The reigning world champion will have to do without striker Ousmane Dembele in the further course of the European Championship.

The European Football Championship has lost its first top star. Ousmane Dembele, FC Barcelona striker by profession, is no longer available to France. The 24-year-old was hit on the knee in a 1-1 draw against Hungary on Saturday and had to be replaced again (87th) 30 minutes after being substituted on (57th).

Dembele is out for about three weeks, so he won’t be fit until a possible final (July 11th). The “Equipe Tricolore” is well positioned even without the 50 million euro man on the offensive. Antoine Griezmann, Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappe are considered to be set, with Olivier Giroud, Kingsley Coman and Wissam Ben Yedder some “noble jokers” are stewing on the bench.

France lead Group F with four points after two matchdays and face Portugal on Wednesday. The round of 16 ticket is as good as certain.
