After his heavy crash in the Tour of Poland last summer, Fabio Jakobsen (Deceuninck – Quick-Step) has been back in the cycling peloton for a while now. After his crash, Jakobsen was badly beaten. His teeth, among other things, were completely mutilated. He proudly showed his new teeth on his Instagram page.

Almost all the bones in the rider’s face were broken after that horrific fall, but after a tough rehabilitation in recent months, there is still very little of his injuries. On his Instagram page, Jakobsen also proudly shows his new teeth and thanks the people who accompanied him.

Extremely grateful for all of the work that has gone in to giving me my teeth back. Starting with Prof. Gert Meijer and Drs. Jeroen Liebregts. Thank you both and all other medical and dental co workers for the support and work over the last 8 of months. You have all been amazing. Also Michiel Wouters who constructed the implant bridges. The result looks astonishing to me and I am thankful for it. I think they are beautiful. There have been a lot of car trips to Nijmegen, Rosmalen and Grave. @radboudumc @michiel.wouters and Implantologie Grave but it has been worth it. Now on to the coming goals on the bike. First nationals championship this weekend with a big smile. Next up are training camp Livigno, Tour de Wallonië and La Vuelta a España.

“Find the 10 differences?!” he captioned his post. “I am extremely grateful for all the work that has been done to give me back my teeth. To start with, professor Gert Meijer and doctor Jeroen Liebregt. Thank you to both and also thank you to all the other dental and other medical doctors for the support and work over the past eight months. You were great.”

“Thanks also to Michiel Wouters, who made the bridges for the implants. The result looks fantastic and I am so grateful. I think they’re beautiful. It involved many car trips to Nijmegen, Roosmaen and Grave, but they were worth it.”

“Now back to focus on the upcoming goals on the bike: first the national championships this weekend with a big smile, then a training camp in Livigno, the Tour de Wallonie and the Vuelta.”
