Euro 2021: England is reassured, Croatia is doing

We will not yet jump to the ceiling singing at the top of our lungs “God Save the Queen” to wake up the whole neighborhood, but after their very sluggish match against Scotland, England showed a slightly more reassuring face before tackle the knockout stages of the Euro. Winners of the Czech Republic (1-0) in front of his Wembley audience this Tuesday evening, the partners of Harry Kane – who still has not scored, some things do not change – ensured the first place of the group. But after starting very strong and concretizing his domination through Raheem Sterling (1-0, 12th), the Three Lions, already qualified at kick-off, gradually declined in intensity.

Failing to have finally achieved a complete match, the British have paved the way for a potential trip to the final almost exclusively in London. With the exception of a possible quarter-final in Rome, England will play, as it did in the pool, all of its meetings at Wembley. Starting with his round of 16, Tuesday, against the second in the group of Blues, potentially the France team.

The vice-world champion saves his skin

If we already knew that we would also find the Czechs in the next round, Croatia snatched second place in the group and their ticket to the knockout stage at the same time, avoiding an inglorious elimination for the finalist of the last World Cup. In Glasgow, the Croats made the difference in the second half over Scotland (3-1), including an inspired Luka Modric and scorer (62nd). The players in the Balkans do not display the same form as in Russia, but at least they have the merit of being still alive.
