Euro 2021, Croatia-Spain: Ivan Perisic, positive for coronavirus, will not play the round of 16

The forward of the Croatian national team Ivan Perisic has tested positive for coronavirus in the tests to which the players of the Balkan team were subjected on Saturday night and will be out for the round of 16 match of the Eurocup, on Monday, against Spain in Copenhagen. The Croatian Football Association announced that Perisic, the starter for Zlatko Dalic and scorer of Croatia’s first goal in this European Championship, tested positive in the last test performed on the team. The Inter footballer was isolated by the medical team of the Croatian team from the rest of the components of the Croatian expedition to comply with all the protection measures against the spread of the coronavirus.

Perisic will be isolated for ten days and will not participate, therefore, in the matches of the Croatian national team. The Croatian Football Association also indicated that the other members of the national team, members of the staff and the delegation, tested negative. The Croatian expedition will leave on Sunday morning for Copenhagen to play, on Monday, the match of the round of 16 of the European Championship against Spain.
