Euro 2021: a Spanish referee for France-Germany

The Blues and the Mannschaft know who will referee them this Tuesday, June 15 (9 p.m.), on the occasion of the first group F shock between France and Germany. This is Carlos Del Cerró Grande, a 45-year-old Spaniard, who will at the same time make his debut in the final phase of a major tournament.

This native of Alcalá de Henares, near Madrid, has been a Fifa international referee since 2013. Professional since 2006, he has officiated in La Liga since 2011. This season, he has covered six matches in the Champions League as head referee, including the round of 16 between Porto and Juventus (2-1), and the return quarter-final between Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City (1-2). He was also the 4th referee in the final between the Citizens and Chelsea (0-1).

In terms of national teams, Carlos Del Cerró Grande officiated during the Euro qualifiers, especially during the meeting between Germany and Northern Ireland (6-1), in November 2019. He did not. led the France team only once. It was in the League of Nations against Portugal (0-0), last October. On this occasion, he had distributed only one warning against Rúben Dias (after 2 minutes of play). Very far from the nine yellows and one red between Greece and Slovenia, a month later, also in the League of Nations.

Finally, it should be noted that Carlos Del Cerró Grande was appointed video referee at the 2019 Women’s World Cup.
