Prime Minister Boris Johnson invited the outgoing Chancellor to his country residence Checkers for Angela Merkel’s alleged farewell visit to Great Britain. As is well known, the North German feels particularly at home in the lovely undulating landscape 40 kilometers north-west of London. The round of 16 between Germany and England this Tuesday will be a little behind. As an icebreaker for the climate of conversation between the two very different politicians, a little shop talk about the most beautiful trivial matter in the world would certainly be welcome.
