A football professional with a bra?
That is what very attentive spectators thought in the 32nd minute of the game between Holland and the Czech Republic. Because the Czech Tomáš Kalas (28) is faded in – and a white sports bra can be seen under his white jersey. Why that?
At least he doesn’t have to support his bust. Many professionals now rely on this garment. The simple reason: It is a GPS bra (usually also neoprene) that tracks all of the player’s data via a satellite in real time. Ex-Bayern star Franck Ribéry (38) or BVB captain Marco Reus (32) also like to use this technical means.
The bra has incorporated a chip that measures exactly how fast the player is running, how many kilometers he covers, what the heart rate is and much more. After the game, the players and coaching staff can then analyze the behavior on the pitch. So what looks, admittedly, weird on a man is a technical means of checking performance with pinpoint accuracy.
