Cristiano Ronaldo is a world star and breaks one record after another. However, a security employee at the Allianz Arena did not recognize the Portuguese.
Even non-football fans can hardly ignore Cristiano Ronaldo – after all, the Portuguese has been polarizing since his European Championship debut in 2004. The superstar has just broken another sporting record: the 36-year-old won the tournament against Hungary on Tuesday in Budapest with eleven goals, he is now the sole record scorer of the European Championship.
But apart from his football career, Ronaldo has broken a record that is perhaps rather unusual for an athlete. With over 300 million subscribers on Instagram, he owns the Instagram account with the most followers. Here he documents life with his girlfriend, the model Georgina Rodríguez and his four children. It is therefore all the more surprising that Cristiano Ronaldo was not recognized by the Allianz Arena stadium security on Thursday,
Ronaldo stayed cool
A video appeared on the Twitter account of the news portal ESPN showing how Ronaldo and his colleagues walk into the secure security area of the stadium. But then a security employee ran after him to have Ronaldo’s accreditation shown again, which dangled around the player’s neck.
The “Juventus Turin” star stayed cool and calmly showed the man his accreditation, who then let the footballer pass directly. The man was certainly told to check everyone who entered the security area without exception and Cristiano Ronaldo wore a mouth and nose protection with which one is even more difficult to recognize.
The 36-year-old will be playing Germany with his team Portugal in their second group game in Munich’s Allianz Arena on June 18. The team won their first game 3-0 against Hungary.
