David Lighty leaves ASVEL for Olympiakos Piraeus

David Lighty (1.98 m, 33 years old) will no longer be an ASVEL player next season. After six seasons spent at the club, in two stages (from 2014 to 2016 and then from 2017 to 2021), he received the contract from Olympiakos Piraeus on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, we were confirmed after that Total Basket has revealed the great interest of the Greek club for the American winger. The native of Cleveland (Ohio) being under contract until 2024, ASVEL will receive a transfer fee of 100,000 euros according to our information.

ASVEL will have to rebuild everything

A small consolation for ASVEL which loses one of its key players, very present on both sides of the floor. The triple champion of France will find two former teammates on site, Livio Jean-Charles and Moustapha Fall. The Rhone club continues to be stripped, while in addition to Fall and Lighty Guerschon Yabusele (Real Madrid or NBA), Amine Noua (Spain or VTB League) and perhaps even William Howard (Zalgiris Kaunas?) Should s’ go away, especially since a significant drop in payroll is expected at ASVEL.

Antoine Diot, Matthew Strazel, Paul Lacombe, Charles Kahudi and Ismaël Bako are still under contract. Kymany Houinsou should be added, he who joined the professional group at the end of the 2020-2021 season.
