Sunday June 6, in Budapest (Hungary), Mélanie Clément competes in the Worlds, in less than 48 kg. Bronze medalist at the European Championships in Lisbon last April, the member of Marnaval wants to confirm, especially since she sees further than Hungary …

Not selected for the Tokyo Olympics in August, for the benefit of Shirine Boukli, in less than 48 kg, Baralbine Mélanie Clément, licensed at Marnaval, had an incredible strength of character to overcome her legitimate disappointment and, in the process , climb on the podium, during the European Championships, in Lisbon, last April. A bronze medal, the first in individual on the international scene, which gave balm to the heart to the Frenchwoman, anxious to get on the “box” again, during the Worlds in Budapest, Hungary, tomorrow. A renewed motivation and appetite that could push Mélanie Clément to look towards Paris 2024.

Le Journal de la Haute-Marne: The French team did a commando training course in Collioure (Pyrénées Orientales) for a week. What was the most difficult: the zip line or jumping off a cliff into twelve-degree water?
Mélanie Clément:
” The jump ! I am not a fan of the height and the water and there the two were there! The zip line was different. It is true that we are in a vacuum, but we are hooked and I managed to motivate myself. “

JHM: How did you experience this internship?
M. C. :
“It was a good course, different from the ones you can do, but which are only focused on judo. There, there were activities that we are not used to doing. There was a good group. We enjoyed our week! It was a good way to cut away from what we usually do. “

JHM: All these activities show that your shoulder injury, contracted in Lisbon on April 16, is just a bad memory, right?
M. C. :
“I still have pain. I do with. I take care during the sessions. Since my rib fracture in October, I’m used to dealing with the pain in my body. “

JHM: How are you feeling?
M. C. :
“We had a good preparation. For a month, we have loaded quite a bit. The body is tired, but this is normal. From now on, you have to think about “making another juice”, to be ready on June 6th. “

“Paris 2024 in sight! “

JHM: What will your schedule be between now and June 6, the day of your competition?
M. C. :
“We’re going to do shorter, more dynamic sessions. You have to keep in touch with the kimono, but as I said, for the past month, we have been working hard and it has really tired the body. In fact, I’m going to do a bit as I want and how I feel. The goal is to be fit by June 6. “

JHM: What is your goal during these Worlds?
M. C. :
“As always: go get the medal. I won bronze at the European Championships, it would be good to do the same at the Worlds. “

JHM: How do you experience the health situation and the “bubbles” put in place before each competition?
M. C. :
” We deal with it. It’s been like this for a year. In the first competition it felt a little weird, but personally I want to see the positive side of the situation. Indeed, I am in a vacuum, I am in my bubble and I can do what I want: watch TV, listen to music and rest. In fact, I like these moments a bit alone. “

JHM: Is this your last big competition before you step back and think about your family life as a newlywed?
M. C. :
“I don’t think it’s the last… The last of this Olympics, that’s for sure. For the rest, maybe that will change. I will take the time, but it is not impossible that I have Paris 2024 in my sights! It would be a new challenge. A medal or not at the Worlds would not be an end or a springboard. I’ll take the summer to think it over. “
