Competition: Daniel Allerstorfer was eliminated in the round of 16 of the Judo World Cup

The Petringer judoka Daniel Allerstorfer missed a top 7 place at the World Championships in Budapest.

ST. PETER. Daniel Allerstorfer lacked a little patience for a top 7 place at the World Cup. “I fought well, but was too hasty in the crucial situation,” said the athlete from St. Peter after the Judo World Cup in Budapest. There Allerstorfer was eliminated in the round of 16.

“Little Panic Reaction”

After a bye and a remarkable Ippon victory over Enej Marinic (SLO) with a harai-goshi that is well worth seeing (see video), Allerstorfer faced number four seeded Gela Zaalishvili (GEO) in the round of the best 16. When the Georgian came to the body, Allerstorfer reacted with an O-uchi-gari, which Zaalishvili was able to convert into a counterattack. “That was a bit of a panic reaction,” said the 28-year-old, who by then had neutralized his strong opponent well. Yvonne Bönisch also sees it this way: “Dani was the better fighter against fellow favorite Zaalishvili, he could have calmly forced the Georgian into the third Shido. The sensation was palpable, but in the end Dani lacked a bit of self-confidence, he acted hastily and was promptly punished, “says Austria’s team boss.

Break from competition for Allerstorfer

While things are now getting serious for the Olympic team with the preparation camps in Slovakia and Croatia, Allerstorfer is about to take a short break from competitions after its annual climax at the World Championships.

In comparison, Allerstorfer was the better fighter, but in the end he lacked patience. In the second round, the Petringer was eliminated.
