Colombia debuted with victory in the women’s basketball AmeriCup

The Colombian Women’s Basketball Team, in which Mabel Martínez and Esperanza Delgado were summoned from Santander, debuted with a 72-60 victory over the Virgin Islands, in the AmeriCup 2021.

The national cast, which is guided by Luis Cuenca, showed an outstanding collective work that allowed him to always be ahead on the scoreboard.

In addition, in the individual aspect, Manuela Ríos, on the defensive side, and Yaneth Arias, on the offensive side, became the most outstanding players.

In the first quarter, the Colombians went ahead 18-12 and in the second they retained dominance, despite a slight reduction from the rival, to end the first half with a score of 33 – 28.

After the break, the best version of the national cast arrived, which was evident in the partial, which ended with a 54-41.

With the advantage, Colombia managed the match times and, although the rival reacted, they did not manage to cut the difference and finally lost 72-60.

Yaneth Arias was the best of the national team, with 10 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.

Mabel Martínez from Santander played 32 minutes and contributed seven points, five rebounds and two assists.

The four best teams in the contest, qualify for the World Cup.
