The soccer team of Chile threatens to play without using the logo of the renowned sports firm Nike on the t-shirts you wear in the America’s Cup-2021, due to a dispute between the Chilean federation and the American brand, local media indicated.

If the dispute is successful, the Nike logo will be covered with a patch in the shirts that the Chilean players will wear on Friday when they play against Bolivia on the second date of the Group A from America Cup, a decision taken by the Chilean federation, the newspaper La Tercera said on Thursday.

The measure was taken by the Chilean federation after last March he presented a lawsuit against Nike, in which he accuses of not having canceled close to six million dollars of an annual fee corresponding to the period 2019-2020, agreed in the contract they signed in 2015 to dress the ‘Red’.

According to the contract cited by La Tercera, Nike must pay a total of $ 7 million per year until Qatar-2022 World Cup.

For its part, Nike responded with a letter to the local federation demanding to cancel the contract, arguing that Chile he had not fulfilled the 10 games that the national team had to play per season.

The ‘Red’ was almost a year without playing due to social protests that broke out in Chile as of October 18, 2019, and then by the arrival of the coronavirus.

October 12 Chile defeated Guinea in a friendly in Spain and after that, came the stoppage of the team. Only on October 8, 2020, did he return to the courts when he fell 2-1 against Uruguay, for the world premier.

The Chilean team debuted in the America’s Cup-2021 with a 1-1 draw against his similar Argentina last Monday in Rio de Janeiro by group A who also share Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay.

In that match, the Chilean players wore the jersey with the logo of Nike.
