Today, three years after the first sentence, the supreme court he has annulled it and declared in favor of Cayetano and against Rubiales. The Supreme Court considers that Martínez de Irujo’s statements are protected by freedom of expression and are alien to the criminal aspect. In this way, the fine of 3,000 euros is annulled and the president of the Federation must pay the costs of the first instance.
