The offensive of the Bundesliga baseball team Bonn Capitals showed two faces in the catch-up games against the Solingen Alligators on Thursday. While the guests clearly won 15-2 in the first game, the 6-2 success in the second game was much more difficult for the Capitals. The German runner-up celebrated several premieres on the throwing hill.
It was important for both teams to handle the pitching staff carefully, because the next games are already on Saturday and Sunday. Solingen therefore did without starter Giovanni Tensen in the first duel. The young Tom Adler was used. He could hardly defend himself against the Bonn offensive. In the first inning, the hits from Wilson Lee, Vinny Ahrens and Daniel Lamb-Hunt gave the Capitals a 3-0 lead. Solingen shortened to 1: 3 in the second inning with a home run and later also got the second point with a home run.
The Bonn team did not want to be inferior and unpacked four home runs themselves. Wilson Lee kicked off, followed by Lamb-Hunt, Terrell Joyce and Danny Lankhorst. Vincent Ahrens also had a very good day with three hits and three runs. Pitcher Maurice Wilhelm and youngster Noah Lindt successfully led the Capitals defensive. Game one ended prematurely after seven innings.

“In game one everything went according to plan,” said head coach Max Schmitz. In the second game, Solingen’s new pitcher Sam Belisle-Springer got off to a strong start. The Alligators took the lead with 2-0. The Capitals came 2-2 in the second inning and 4-2 in the third, but then it was over for the offensive teams on both sides.
Jensen and Wittig celebrate their debut
Belisle-Springer threw an unbelievable 166 pitches in eight innings, but the Bonn team couldn’t take advantage of his dwindling strength either. In total, the Capitals only got seven hits in the whole game. Only Nick Miceli scored twice. The alligators even recorded one more hit than the guests. However, there were no other points. The Capitals managed that in the ninth inning after a blow from Adrian Stommel, who brought in two more points to make it 6-2.
On the mound of the Capitals stood two debutants, Marcus Jensen and Joe Wittig. The American Jensen had only arrived from the Czech Republic two days earlier. Sammy Steigert and Joe Wittig then took over the pitching and had to accept hits but no points. “Compliments to Sam Belisle-Springer. But against a pitcher with more than 100 pitches you have to land more hits, ”said Schmitz.

Sascha Koch was spared for the next task on Sunday. It can therefore be expected that Koch will lead the pitcher squad in the games against the Dohren Wild Farmers (1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., Rheinaue). For Dohren it is the first game in this shortened season of the Bundesliga North. Neither they nor the Capitals know where the Wild Farmers are after a short preparation. Both games will again be broadcast live on the Bonn Capitals YouTube channel.
