With Marcus Thornton, Medi Bayreuth has presented the next newcomer for the coming season in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL). As the club announced, the 28-year-old Shooting Guard will receive a one-year contract with the tenth of the season last season.
Korner on Thornton: “A scorer as he is in the book”
Thornton has played for newly promoted Niners Chemnitz since summer 2020, with whom he managed to stay in the BBL last season. “Marcus is a scorer like he is in the book,” said Medi-Coach Raoul Korner about the American. “He has proven that he can deliver in crunch time and that is exactly what we missed last season.”

Thornton is the fifth newcomer to Medi Bayreuth for the coming season. Coach Raoul Korner also extended his contract in Bayreuth in May.
