Weißenfels (AP) – Bundesliga basketball team Syntainics MBC has presented the fourth new addition for the coming season. Reginald Johnson Jr. comes from the Ukrainian first division club Budivelnyk Kiev to Weißenfels, as the club announced on Saturday. The 27-year-old American signed a contract for an initial year. The 1.87 meter tall superstructure player can be used in the positions as point guard and shooting guard.

Before joining the Ukraine, Johnson from Chicago gained experience in Hungary, Sweden and the Spanish second division. While the season in Kiev was rather disappointing, Johnson attracted particular attention at the Hungarian club Kaposvari KK.

With an average of 18.6 points and 2.9 assists, the development player was the seventh best scorer in the entire league and came under the spotlight of Syntainic’s MBC coach Igor Jovovic: “I’ve been following Reginald for a number of years. He has made a good name for himself in Hungary. Last season in Ukraine didn’t go according to plan. Now he wants to move into a stronger league and build on his strong performances in Hungary. “

With newcomer Johnson, the current squad currently consists of seven players. Thanks to the quick agreement, Johnson can now “fully concentrate on my summer training in order to arrive in Weissenfels in good physical shape in August.”
