Dominican beats Russia in blank match in Serbia
SERBIA.- The Dominican Republic basketball team beat their Russian counterpart, 83-73, in a friendly match held in the city of Kaunas, in the distant European country of Lithuania.
The Dominicans continue their preparation for the Olympic Repechage to be played in the city of Belgrade, in Serbia, between June 29 and July 4.
Before this meeting, last week, they also played against the Lithuanian national team, in the same city, where they lost 96-62.
Mike Torres took over the Dominican offense with 21 points, four rebounds and four assists, in addition to captain Víctor Liz, who had 19 and six rebounds, and Jonathan Araújo’s double-double of 13 baskets and 12 rebounds.
For the Russians, Timofey Mozgov had 16 points and six rebounds, the same amount that Michail Kulagin scored and Anton Astapkovich had 10 points and six caught balls.
Defends Al Horford transfer to Boston
BOSTON – Brad Stevens has taken little time to sign his name as President of Operations for the Boston Celtics, a position he assumed earlier this month.
The new bureau chief closed Kemba Walker’s trade to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Al Horford, a deal that also involved Moses Brown and three rounds of the draft.

Harlem Globetrotters Apply to Join NBA
NEW YORK – The iconic Harlem Globetrotters basketball team has asked NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to be considered as a candidate to join the professional league as a new franchise.
In a letter sent to Silver, they asked the NBA to reward the team’s work in helping spread basketball around the world, welcoming it to the league.
PLAYOFFS NBA: Suns make 2-0 series against Clippers
PHOENIX.-. Deandre Ayton he hit an alley-oop pass from Jae Crowder when 0.7 seconds remained and gave the Phoenix Suns a thrilling 104-103 victory over the LA Clippers, in the second game of the Western Conference Finals.
