Dominican beats Russia in blank match in Serbia

SERBIA.- The Dominican Republic basketball team beat their Russian counterpart, 83-73, in a friendly match held in the city of Kaunas, in the distant European country of Lithuania.

The Dominicans continue their preparation for the Olympic Repechage to be played in the city of Belgrade, in Serbia, between June 29 and July 4.

Before this meeting, last week, they also played against the Lithuanian national team, in the same city, where they lost 96-62.

Mike Torres took over the Dominican offense with 21 points, four rebounds and four assists, in addition to captain Víctor Liz, who had 19 and six rebounds, and Jonathan Araújo’s double-double of 13 baskets and 12 rebounds.

For the Russians, Timofey Mozgov had 16 points and six rebounds, the same amount that Michail Kulagin scored and Anton Astapkovich had 10 points and six caught balls.

Defends Al Horford transfer to Boston
