Basketball: Catalan Hugo Benitez in the race for the election of the best youngster in the LNB

Four players are in contention for the honorary title of best youngster of the 12020-02021 season for the National Basketball League including Hugo Benitez, the playmaker of JL Bourg, who grew up in Toulouges, near Perpignan.

For his first season in an Elite Jeep under the colors of JL Bourg-en-Bresse with whom he is linked until 2023, Hugo Benitez is competing for the honorary title of best youngster of the 2020-2021 season with the vote of the coaches and players. At 20, the Catalan, trained in Toulouges but who joined the Bourg training center in 2016, had a big season as a playmaker.

The statistics speak for him: average 27 minutes per game, 13 points, 72% success in free throws, 7.4 assists, 4 rebounds. He is in contention with playmaker Matthew Strazel (18 years old, Lyon-Villeurbanne), winger Victor Wembanyama (17 years old, Nanterre) and Champagne Basket playmaker, Matthieu Gauzin who has recently signed up for the NBA draft.
In addition, Hugo Benitez has just been summoned to the France U20 team to participate in an international tournament in Tbilisi (Georgia) from July 20 to 25, 2021.
