Badminton: The absolute national crowns Pablo Abián and Clara Azurmendi in Cartagena

The best 139 rackets in the country gave a complete show for three days at the Palacio de Deportes in Cartagena. The auxiliary track was the headquarters of the absolute championship of Spain and para-badminton. The best in the country attended, in intense days with a total of more than 150 games, the participation of more than twenty clubs (including the Cartagena Badminton Club, one of the organizers) and the economic impact it has had on the city, in accommodation and transportation.

It is the first time that the Region of Murcia has hosted an event of this magnitude. He was attended by the top federation representatives and great stars of this sport, in singles, doubles and mixed doubles. The absolute national crowned Pablo Abián and Clara Azurmendi once again. Both achieved individual gold and gender doubles.

Abián is on his way to 36 years old, he is an Olympian and in Cartagena he added two more titles to his gigantic resume. His record is 23 national titles. The doubles raised him with his brother Javier. Azurmendi, 23, defeated Beatriz Corrales in a tight final.

Other rackets attended, such as the 16-time parabadminton champion José Guillermo Lama, the international medalist Simón Cruz and other players from the Spanish team such as Pablo Serrano, who monopolized all the spotlight with his triplet of golds. He won in singles, doubles and mixed doubles.
