Atlético Huila vs Deportes Quindío criticizes Diego Arias for the promotion to the League format | Colombian Soccer | Betplay tournament

This Sunday begins the grand finale of the BetPlay Tournament. Atlético Huila and Deportes Quindío, the most recent champions, will fight for one of two promotions for the second semester.

In the preview of the crucial duel, the captain of the opita team, Diego Arias, expressed his disagreement with the format that Dimayor proposed to decide the two teams that will play the BetPlay League 2021-II.

Being questioned about how they prepare the decisive duel, Arias assured that the key for the Huila will be “imposing on the rival.” Likewise, he highlighted the work of both groups to reach the final instance.

Following this, he strongly criticized those who organized the format for the promotion in this 2021 and left a reflection so that these people “spend at least 10 minutes to design it better.”

“I hope that despite the poor design of the championship, a fair resolution is given for a tournament that I sincerely feel was designed by people who have never competed in any sport,” he said.

“It is ridiculous that the two teams that have made merits to promote, were champions and that we are first and second in reclassification, today we are playing this game and that a team that has not been champion and that was below us in reclassification moment may have the same chances. It’s ridiculous, ”he continued.

“Hopefully this situation will help those who decide to spend at least 10 minutes to design it better,” he concluded.

It is worth remembering that by regulation, the loser between Huila and Quindío would have to play an extra game (round trip) against Cortuluá. The only exception to this is that the opitas win only one of the two games in the grand final and thereby become champions.

This would give the direct quota to Neiva’s team, while those whose players would be left with the second quota for having been the leaders of the reclassification. It is the only scenario in which there would be “justice.”
