Arthur Rinderknech qualifies for the second round of the Halle tournament, not Gilles Simon

Arthur Rinderknech, 119th player in the world and from qualifying, landed his ticket for the second round of the tournament in Halle on Tuesday. The French won against the German Yannick Hanfmann (7-5, 6-3), ranked 99th in the ATP and lucky loser.

Rinderknech led in the first set, but Hanfmann came back several times. Thanks to a break, the French player finally made the decision. In the second round, the debates were first balanced, before Arthur Rinderknech broke at 4-3 and headed for victory.

In the second round, he will face Nikoloz Basilashvili, 30th in the world and also out of qualifying in Halle. A little earlier in the day, the Georgian had dismissed Gilles Simon in three sets (6-1, 3-6, 6-4).
