Archery: Pierre Plihon from Nîmes obtains his ticket for the Tokyo Olympic Games

Like his partner Jean-Charles Valladont at the Arc club in Nîmes, Pierre Plihon will go to Japan this summer. With the France team, he qualified this Saturday, June 19 in Paris during the final Olympic qualifying tournament (TQO).

There will be at least two members of the Arc club de Nîmes this summer at the Tokyo Olympics. After Jean-Charles Valladont, who qualified at the beginning of June in Antalya (Turkey), during the TQO organized on the sidelines of the European Championships, Pierre Plihon in turn validated his ticket for Japan, this Saturday, June 19 at Paris, on the Charléty stadium shooting range where the ultimate Olympic qualifying tournament was taking place. With the France team, associated with Valladont and Clermontois Thomas Chirault, he has indeed removed one of the three team quotas involved. Beaten 6-0 in the semi-final by the United States, the Tricolores n did not tremble against Ukraine for the match for 3rd place, winning 6-0. This will be the second Olympic Games in which Pierre Plihon will participate after those in Rio (elimination in the 32nd round).

Another AC Nîmes licensee, Mélanie Gaubil will in turn try to get her ticket this Sunday, June 20

Another member of the Arc club in Nîmes, Mélanie Gaubil also hopes to go to Japan. Within the French women’s team, she will try to win her ticket on Sunday June 21, still on the shooting range of the Charléty stadium. Mélanie Gaubil will be associated with world number 1 and 2021 European champion Lisa Barbelin (Riom), who already has her individual ticket, and Angeline Cohendet (Brignais).

The archery events of the Tokyo Olympic Games will take place from July 23 to 31, 2021 at Yumenoshima Park Archery Field for recurve archers.
