Simply a steamroller, this was today Federico Musolesi. The blue archer, in fact, has been able to redeem the lack of Olympic qualification in the best possible way in last week’s team competition hitting a four aces. Under his arrows they fell, sportingly speaking, first the Ukrainian Oleksii Hunbin, adjusted with a 6-2, then the most highly rated Romain Fichet, German Johannes Maier and finally the Brazilian Marcus D’Almeida. The latter, in particular, had to surrender to the power of the blue’s recurve bow with a very clear, and unappealable, 6-0. Musolesi is now waiting number one in the ranking, the American Brady Ellison. The semifinal will be played in Paris and already represents for the Italian the only viaticum for the Yunkton finals.

The same thing, however, cannot be said for Mauro Nespoli which, despite the defeat paw to the quarters at the hand of the American Jack Williams, has already booked a ticket for the final of this fifteenth edition of the World Cup. Decisive, for the archer from Voghera, the seasonal ranking which sees him in second place overall. The day also gave a smile to Alessandro Paoli that he overtook Frenchman Jean Charles Valladont 6-0 only to pay duty only at the shoot-off in the next match against Patrick Houston (UK).

As for the girls, the best it was Lucilla Boari who managed to go all the way to the quarter-finals before giving in to Russian Elena Osipova.

Compound

In the competitions of compound once again the Dutch class has emerged Mike Schloesser, capable of placing itself first in the ranking round with a peremptory 715. According to the American James Lutz, third the Salvadoran Roberto Hernandez with 712 points on the scoresheet.

At the end of the qualifying round, to the microphones Schloesser stated: “it was a slow start. After that it was easier until the end. I shot well. I adjusted my shot, quickly adapting it to the environment“. The Dutch has so far made it en plein in this season’s World Archery Cup ranking rounds, reaching the top spot for the third time after Guatemala City and Lausanne.

Among women, the 703 put on the scoresheet from the very young British girl Ella Gibson. For her this is the second best result in the ranking round after the 705 points last month in Lausanne. At the end of the day he declared: “I certainly felt much more comfortable shooting towards the end of the round. I’d be happy to shoot like this for the rest of the week“. Among the Italians of the compound it is necessary to report the substantial performance put in place by Paola Natale which allowed her to reach the top 8 of the ranking.
