The mixed compound team, composed by Paola Natale e Federico Pagnoni, he gave great show at the Stade Charléty in Paris. The blues, in fact, they started their day of competition by beating Slovenia at the shot-off in the round of 16, for then annihilate Germany in the quarterfinals with a net 158-154. The setback, unfortunately, came in the semifinals where the Russian team prevailed. Despite this misstep the duo Natale-Pagnoni is preparing for the final for the third-fourth place tomorrow, Saturday 26 June, against the strong Danes Gellenthien e Fullerton.

The other mixed team blue of Nespoli and Tatiana Andreoli, engaged in the recurve, is unfortunately came out in the 24th final, overwhelmed by the Colombian team.

The same Pagnoni proved his worth in the men’s compound individual pushing up to the quarters, where, once again had to surrender to His Majesty “Mister Perfect“, alias Mike Scholesser. The very Dutch champion, number one in the world, followed the exploits of the Italian archer in the previous rounds and then found the winning competition strategy in the direct match. Pagnoni, indeed he had freed himself smoothly by Icelandic Olafsson to the twenty-fourth with a score of 145-137, to the 16th of Hollas for 148-147 and in the second round of the other German, Luepkemann, per 148-144. The showdown between the blue and Scholesser is thus consumed to the quarter-finals which saw the Dutchman triumph by just one point, 150-149. For Pagnoni there remains a pinch of bitterness in the mouth, especially because just a month ago, in Lausanne, it was always the Dutchman who took the gold medal off his neck in the second stage of the World Cup.

The other blues competing in the compound, Sergio Pagni and Marco Bruno, They were eliminated, respectively, in 16th place of final from the Indian Verma for 148-145 and to the 24th from the transalpine Gonthier for 144-143.

Marcella Tonioli, Elisa Roner and Paola Natale, engaged in the female individual compound have been all eliminated in the 16th final.

Mixed team recurve bow: the bag

In mixed team recurve the final for the gold medal will confront the Dutch Gaby Scholesser and Chef Van der Berg to the Indians Atanu Das and Deepika Kumari. The Indian duo, among other things, not only pair up on the competition field but also in everyday life and this, according to many, will help sports performance. Deepika Kumari has already declared herself excited to be able to compete with her husband in a world final. For them, a possible victory would mean a great deal, perhaps more than for others. On the other hand, however, there will be waiting for them the fierce Dutch duo who have already set the record straight. To the microphones of the federation, Van der Berg said: “We have a good team and we can do good things“. Gaby Scholesser also seemed very determined, so to the microphones: “Obviously we have Tokyo in our minds, we think of the Olympic Games. However, we must remain focused on this competition. When it’s over, we’ll think about Tokyo“.
