Aragonese judoka Sergio Ibáñez, from Judo Club Zaragoza, has confirmed his place for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic games after achieving a second place in -66kg at the IBSA Judo Grand Prix in Warwick 2021 this Saturday, where he was attending as a member of the Paralympic team of Spanish judo.
Sergio Ibáñez becomes the first Aragonese judoka to get a place for the Paralympic Games in the Judo modality after an Olympic cycle full of efforts and perseverance. Consequence of a very good trajectory and sports evolution within the qualified technification program of the Aragon government (PTD) and later as a scholarship holder at the High Performance Center (CAR) of Madrid by the Higher Sports Council, culminating the Olympic cycle with a placed within the first eight of the world ranking.
An advance in Aragonese Judo and Paralympic Judo that leaves a very good taste in the mouth and great illusion after this stage marked by the pandemic produced by Covid-19.
