Ajax signs up for Feyenoord player Steven Berghuis | Football

The captain, who has a limited transfer fee of four million euros in his contract, is currently in the Orange training camp and has previously indicated that he only wants to focus on the European Championship.

If Berghuis actually leaves for Ajax and starts playing in the Champions League, he will have completed the long detour to the highest European football stage. De Apeldoorner went through the youth of Go Ahead Eagles to FC Twente, where he took the first place. The tukkers sold him – after an earlier rental period to VVV-Venlo – on 1 July 2012 for half a million euros to AZ. In Alkmaar, the attacker took great steps and on July 27, 2015 he moved to Watford FC for 6.5 million euros.

Berghuis’s Premier League adventure did not turn out as he expected and Feyenoord brought the outcome on 1 August 2016. The Rotterdam club rented Berghuis for one year and was then able to take him over for 6.5 million euros. In De Kuip, the Orange player turned out to be worth his money. He won the Johan Cruijff Scale twice and the TOTO KNVB Cup once, but the absolute highlight in 2017 was the national championship.
