A tennis teacher from Canning is number 1 in the senior ranking and will play the world championship of the category

Until his 21 he played in professional tournaments organized by the Association of Professional Tennis Players (ATP), but after a tour of Europe in which he did not obtain the results he expected, he returned to the country with the decision to abandon professionalism.

“At that time I was kind of a rebel. When you’re a kid, you don’t listen and it’s hard to understand things. I had the impulse to say that I did not play anymore and I did not play any more ”, Stanislav confessed to El Diario Sur and added:“ Until today I would have loved to continue playing ”.

Before the arrival of the proposal to compete in the senior category, he did not hesitate. He began to prepare in the three aspects that he considers important for the sport and had good results. “Tennis has the physical, the tennis and the mental part, which for me is one more leg of the table.”

The former professional tennis player and Canning’s neighbor will represent Argentina in the next Senior World Cup.

Stanislav started playing and winning tournaments. This year he was victorious in the Club Atlético Comercio Championship, in the Senior Championship of the South of the Republic, played in Mar del Plata, and of the International Championship of the Republic, where senior tennis players from all over the world participated in Olivos as part of the circuit organized by the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

Those championships allowed him to reach the No. 1 position in the senior national ranking of the Argentine Tennis Association (AAT). There, at the top of the table, his name can be read: Stanislav Ichkov.

“The three or four best in the ranking are allowed to represent the country in the Senior World Cup,” explained Stanislav to break the news: that he will be in the world championship defending the colors of blue and white. It will be played in the coastal city of Umag, in Croatia, from September 18 to 25 this year.

To get ready for the World Cup, Stanislav began “to work a little harder, a lot on the physical part and a little on the mental part, which I do with a coaching that is dedicated to helping me.” The tennis player does not want to go through what happened to him at 21 years old, when he made the mistake of leaving the courts because he could not handle his psychology.

“The mental part is very important in tennis, because it is a tool that one can use both on the court and outside,” explained Stanislav, who explained the reasons for his training in matters of mental health: “It helps me to have another point of view and do certain exercises to prepare myself ”.
