Nelly Korda of the United States dumped compatriot Lizette Salas in the final round of the KPMG LPGA Championship on Sunday in Johns Creek, Ga., To savor her first victory at a major tournament.

Korda was in control for most of the day, she who rigged two eagles and two birdies on the first 14 holes. She made a double bug on the 15th pennant, but without bad consequences. A cumulative of 269 (-19) allowed him to finish the competition with four priority shots over Salas.

At the same time, it seizes the first rank in the world. This is the first time that an American has held this position since 2014.

The latter was rather quiet in the fourth round, netting two birdies against a boguey. Salas completed her tournament in second echelon, six strokes ahead of a duo of participants tied for third.

For her part, Canada’s Brooke M. Henderson played par 72 on her final day. She finished tied for 21st, tied with three other golfers, 16 strokes behind the winner.

The other representative of the maple leaf, Alena Sharp, played one more stroke than her compatriot during the tournament. She thus completed the competition tied for 25th position.

The extension smiles on English

Americans Kramer Hickok and Harris English used overtime at the Travelers Championship on Sunday in Cromwell, Connecticut, and the runner-up got the better of it on the eighth extra hole.

After 72 holes, the two men had an identical cumulative score of 267 (-13). They therefore returned to the tee of the 18th hole, but both passed par on their first attempt. The golfers repeated the exercise again, but the result remained the same. They were therefore at the 17th pennant to try to determine a winner, but without success. The next four tests also failed to tell the difference. English finally put an end to the suspense by setting a birdie on the 18th pennant, on the eighth additional hole.

Australian Marc Leishman took third place. Even though he finished his round well before Hickok and English, the 37-year-old has long believed in his chances following a final round of 64 (-6). He even shared the lead for a few holes, with a cumulative 268 (-12), before the other two scored a birdie each on their 72nd hole of the competition.

Canadians David Hearn and Mackenzie Hughes concluded their tournament at the bottom of the standings, with cumulative aggregates of 282 (+2) and 283 (+3) respectively.
