In 2007, the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) officially adapted the universal rules to 3×3 basketball for its debut at the Youth Olympic Games (YOG, Youth Olympic Games), in Singapore 2010.
Since 2012, FIBA has organized the FIBA 3×3 World Cup, which is played between national teams, while the FIBA 3×3 World Tour is played by clubs. In 2017 3×3 was selected as an official Olympic sport for the Tokyo 2020 Games, making it the first YOG discipline to be included in the Olympic program. This means that, in just eight years, this sport has gone from the streets to the Olympics.

This nation sends professional teams to world competitions, where they win at a high level, so it continues to be the team to beat.

Meanwhile, in the women’s category there is no dominant nation, as five different countries have won a World Cup, the latest being the People’s Republic of China. In Tokyo 2020 everyone has the door open to get on the podium, so the teams will give their best.
