Just a little flashback to the game against Japan, when Thibaut Courtois mounted the decisive attack. This time the keeper didn’t do it with his hands, but with his feet.
The ball was passed back to Courtois, who saw Cristiano Ronaldo rushing towards him. Reason for most goalkeepers to kick the ball towards a deep striker in panic, but not so San Thibaut. He cut CR7 out and played the ball in nicely. 20 seconds later the leather was in the net on the other side.
“What I thought when Cristiano arrived? (laughs) It was a hunch of the moment and the right decision,” Courtois said after the match. “Whether Cristiano said anything after the match? Yes, that we only had one shot between the posts. And yes, uh, that’s true, but it was enough.”
