Two NHL champions will join the team of the Russian Olympic Committee – Hockey 2021

The team will be joined by striker Vladimir Tarasenko (St. Louis “Blues”, as well as defender Dmitry Orlov and goalkeeper Ilya Samsonov (both – Washington “Capitals”).

The Blues and Capitals teams withdrew from the Stanley Cup on Sunday, giving way to the Colorado Avalanche and Boston Bruins, respectively.

Tarasenko, 29, has scored 14 points (4 + 10) in 24 games in the NHL regular season this season, and has scored two goals in four games in a “play-off” tournament.

In 2019, Tarasenko won the Stanley Cup with the Blues, but in 2015 he helped Russia win silver at the World Cup.

29-year-old Orlov scored eight goals in 51 games and made 14 assists in 51 games in the Capitals NHL this season, and in the play-off tournament he scored three assists in five matches.

Orlov became the NHL Champion in 2018 with the Capitals. In the ranks of the Russian national team, he has four medals in world championships – gold in 2014 and bronze three times (in 2016, 2017 and 2019).

The 24-year-old Samsonov scored an average of 2.69 goals and rebounded 90.2% in 19 games in the NHL Regular Championship this season in the Capitals, but 2.99 reels and 89.9% in the play-off tournament.

In 2016, Samsonov with the Magnitogorsk “Metallurg” team became the KHL champion, winning the Gagarin Cup.

The rules require players who join the national team after May 16 to have three days of isolation and daily Covid-19 tests.

The team of the Russian Olympic Committee is currently the leader of Group A at the World Championships in Riga – Britain beat 7: 1 and the Czech Republic beat 4: 3.

It has already been reported that the biggest star of Russian hockey, Alexander Owchkin, will not join the national unit this spring.
