Tiger Woods spotted without protective boot in a girl’s Instagram post

El astro Tiger Woods appeared on Instagram Monday when a Florida girl battling cancer posted a photo of herself with the golf superstar after meeting him at a soccer park.

Woods, who sustained serious leg injuries in a California car accident in February, was on crutches but without a protective walking boot on his right leg.

The photo was posted by 10-year-old Luna Perrone, who calls herself on her Instagram profile “A tough girl battling Ewing’s sarcoma (bone cancer)” and a “soccer legend.”

“I was able to have a quick chat with @tigerwoods this weekend when I ran into him on the soccer fields!” Perrone wrote.

“He told me to ‘stay strong’, which has always been my goal! Stay strong physically and mentally and inspire others to do the same! No matter what you’re going through, YOU HAVE THIS !!!”

The 15-time Grand Slam champion had indicated in an Instagram post in April that his recovery was coming, but slowly. He had not offered any further information since then, although he congratulated longtime rival Phil Mickelson on his victory in the PGA Championship on Sunday.

Woods, who police said was driving nearly twice the legal speed limit when his SUV spun out of control and rolled over multiple times, underwent hours of surgery to repair a broken lower right leg and the ankle and was hospitalized for weeks before returning to Florida in March.

US Ryder Cup captain Steve Stricker said last week that he hoped Woods was well enough to serve as an assistant captain in the US-Europe showdown at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin in September.
