‘The wings of freedom’: the sports project promoted by Fisdir Sicilia concluded at the ‘Einaudi Pareto’ institute in Palermo | ItaliAccessible

Sport as a preventive-rehabilitative, educational and stimulus of cognitive activity for the development of conditional skills, the maintenance of physiological joint mobility, the increase in coordination skills, the acquisition of new motor skills and as a moment of social integration: this is the central point of the project entitled “The wings of Freedom“, Promoted by Fisdr Sicily, that this morning, May 27, at the “Luigi Einaudi Pareto” institute in via Brigata Verona, 5 a Palermo, ended with the traditional closing rite and the awarding of the students participating in game-sport activities in the discipline of archery.

Present at the award ceremony, among others, the regional delegate Fisdir Sicilia, Roberta Cascio, the referent of the Fisdir Sicilia School, Gaspare Ganci, as well as the head teacher of the Institute, Maria Rita Di Maggio, and the contact person Gina Tornese.

The boys showed not only a lot of enthusiasm and contentment, but also remarkable skills in archery – said the regional delegate, Roberta Cascio – and, in fact, we will ensure that as early as next school year they can start competitive sports. Each participant was assigned a medal and a towel useful for their sporting activities – continued Cascio -, while the head teacher and the contact person for disabilities were awarded a special prize for their collaboration, participation and great availability.“.

The project, mainly focused on the development of some specific skills and abilities of the young people protagonists of the activities carried out, had as its ultimate purpose the facilitation of social exchanges, the insertion of themselves in different external environments in order to guarantee them to grasp important opportunity to relate to new models, the increase and strengthening of autonomy.

The key objectives of the initiative, on the other hand, were: to stimulate awareness and knowledge of one’s body in a static and dynamic position, to develop and consolidate balances; experience one’s body and movement as a vehicle and communication strategy and refine the capacity for dramatization, promote anatomical and physiological development and the capacity for space-time organization, develop sensory skills and the perception of one’s body, as a whole and in the its individual segments, acquire the mastery of postural patterns and basic motor patterns and coordinative motor skills.

Objectives fully achieved that we hope we will be able to continue in the future – concluded Cascio – in how much, both the children and their teachers and we like Fisdir, always intend to carry on with enthusiasm, continuity and commitment“.
