The Selection of Reinaldo Rueda begins work in Barraquilla

The Colombian National Team got underway at home. Officially the process of Reinaldo Rueda began, a coach who took office in January, but led the main group for the first time this Monday at the sports headquarters of the Colombian Football Federation in Barranquilla. In February he had made a microcycle with 23 FPC players, of which only Aldair Quintana and Miguel Borja repeat the call.

Rueda, accompanied by the entire coaching staff, including Bernardo Redín and his PF Carlos Velasco, had 6 of the 26 players called up in the first practice. Alfredo Morelos (Rangers), Wilmar Barrios (Zenit), Yairo Moreno (León), William Tesillo (León) and Camilo Vargas (Atlas) they were part of the session.

In the next few hours the other players will join the concentration, some are already in Colombia but they took days off with the authorization of the Valle del Cauca coach. One of them is James Rodríguez, who rests in eastern Antioquia with his family.

Peru and Argentina, Colombia’s rivals

The Colombian team will have almost a week of training in Barranquilla and on May 31 or June 1 he will be traveling to Lima for the match against Peru from date 7 of the Qatar World Cup Qualifiers. The game will be on Thursday 3 at 9:00 pm, Colombian time.

Five days later, Colombia will receive Argentina in the Metropolitan, as confirmed by FIFA last week. Nor can it be ruled out that there will be a change of headquarters at the last minute due to the difficult social situation in the country.

Colombia is seventh in the standings with 4 points, product of a victory against Venezuela and the draw against Chile in Santiago. Peru is second to last with 1 unit and Argentina second with 10.
