Segoviana Mariela Cerros is Miss World Nicaragua

The women of the North continue to conquer the beauty pageants, first it was Esteliana Ana Marcelo, Miss Nicaragua 2020 and Top 21 of Miss Universe. Now it is Mariela Alexandra Cerros Espinoza, 21 years old, originally from Ocotal, Nueva Segovia, who was crowned on Saturday May 22 as Miss World Nicaragua 2021, becoming the successor of the capital Sheynnis Palacios.

After months of preparation and having participated in the Miss World Nicaragua Television Series, broadcast by VOS TV, the final gala was held last Saturday at the Holiday Inn Convention Center in Managua, where the 12 little locks from different parts from Nicaragua gathered in search of the crown.

They were evaluated by members of the jury and at the end of the night the best score was obtained by Mariela Cerros from Segovia, who from the beginning of the contest was one of the favorite candidates to win the beauty contest, whose format encourages the participants to get involved in social projects.

A multifaceted young woman

The beautiful Segovian woman is studying a Bachelor of Marketing at the Central American University (UCA) of Managua, although years ago she decided to study Law and even moved to León to fulfill that goal. She confesses that changing careers was one of the most difficult decisions she has ever made but now she is sure it was for the best.

“Studying something that you are passionate about will give you the satisfaction of knowing that you are happy with something that will pay you in the long run. Studying your career is a pleasant experience in which you will cultivate wonderful experiences that make you feel fulfilled,” he wrote in one of his social media posts.

Mariela is a young homebody, her parents are her greatest pride and example to follow. In addition, he keeps his spirit cultivated through the habit of reading, motivational groups, theater and music. He loves to travel, CrossFit, and Judo. He is also very fond of plants and healthy food.

During her participation in the Miss World Nicaragua pageant, she addressed very important and current issues, such as migration, the environment, and female empowerment. “Being a migrant is not easy at all, even though living conditions are better, it is always difficult to live in a country that is not yours, many of us deal with classism, racism and humiliation on some occasions,” he said about the migration.

Habitat for Humanity Ambassador

As part of her social mission, Mariela Cerros became an ambassador for Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit organization that advocates and works for the right to decent housing and the sustainable improvement of community habitat.

“I chose Habitat because I had a while monitoring their networks and seeing all the work they do in favor of decent housing in Nicaragua, and now that I am closer, I have realized that the work is much more comprehensive, not only the issue is addressed of housing, there are different projects that have to do with improving the living conditions of families, such as financial education workshops, “Mariela commented in a press release from that organization.

As a member of Habitat, Mariela has been closely with the beneficiary families promoted by the organization. In addition, he received the Financial Education workshop and visited the Semillas Housing Project carried out in the city of Estelí.
