The 23-year-old was dumped by the Detroit Lions.

The Auburn University product has spent the last three campaigns with the Michigan roster. In 2020, however, he saw his playing time greatly decrease with the emergence of D’Andre Swift and the arrival of Adrian Peterson. He only carried the ball 52 times for 181 yards and two touchdowns in 16 games. He also caught 19 passes for 187 yards and a major.

Johnson was no longer in the plans of the Lions, who awarded a contract to running back Jamaal Williams last March.

The Alabama native was a second-round pick (43e in total) of the Detroit club in 2018.

For the Eagles, Johnson will compete against running backs Miles Sanders, Boston Scott, Jordan Howard and Jason Huntley.
