NFL Draft: Patriots reportedly eyeing Justin Fields

The New England Patriots are keen to advance to the draft to get their hands on quarterback Justin Fields, it seems.

This is what the NFL Network said on Monday.

The “Pats” are reportedly looking to secure a first-round pick from the top 10 caps. Currently, the formation of Massachusetts holds the 15th speaking turn.

Last season, the 22-year-old pivot helped the Ohio State Buckeyes advance to the national championship, where they bowed out against the Alabama Crimson Tide. In eight games, Fields completed 70.2% of his attempted passes for gains of 2,100 yards and 22 touchdowns. He also amassed 383 yards and five majors with his legs.

Regarded by several experts as the second best quarterback available in 2021, the native of Georgia should not however be one of the first three pivots drafted in the first round on Thursday night in Cleveland. The majority of oval balloon experts believe it will be selected between the 4e and 11 footb choice.

For their part, the Patriots would have been very active in their evaluation of all the quarterbacks available at the next auction. Last year, they trusted Cam Newton and missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2018 campaign. The former Carolina Panthers threw more interceptions (10) than touchdowns (eight ) in 2020. He still initialed a new one-year agreement with the New England organization this offseason.
