Cornerback Jevon Holland became the first Canadian-born player to hear his name called in the NFL Draft Friday in Cleveland.

The Miami Dolphins have set their sights on the product of the University of Oregon Ducks with their 36th second-round selection overall.

The young man from British Columbia had withdrawn from the 2020 NCAA season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In two seasons in the varsity ranks, Holland had nine interceptions, including a return for a major. He also made 108 tackles, including 71 solo.

In the first round, the Dolphins picked wide receiver Jaylen Waddle (6th overall) and quarterbacks Jaelan Phillips (18th overall).
