In the semifinals they beat Dina Abouzeid and María Corral by 21-13 and 21-18. In the final, Mª José and Silvia faced Jennifer Fernández and Carolina López, in a very close match that the Setabense and her partner missed by the minimum, with partials of 21-17 and 21-19, thus achieving the silver. Mompó also competed in the mixed doubles, along with Sergio Tallante, although they could not access the final phase as they did not pass the group phase.
On the other hand, CB Xàtiva also participated last Saturday in the third and last test of the Autonomous School Circuit for the cadet category (sub-17), held in Enguera. After this appointment, the final classification and the athletes who achieve a place for the Autonomous School Championship in June will be known. On the Enguera day, the Setabense club attended with six athletes, who achieved almost a full number of victories in the doubles events, winning all but two matches (83% of victories). In singles they did not reap as many triumphs because there were several direct confrontations between players of the same club. Vicent Molina stood out, with full victories (4) and David Polo, with three wins out of four possible.
The weekend also included the school day organized by the EDM Badminton Xàtiva with the collaboration of the Xàtiva Badminton Club, held at the CEIP Jacinto Castañeda. A day that was a successful participation, with 15 athletes. The main competition was the doubles competition, in which the coach Javier Alcázar formed several pairs combining athletes from the club and the school to equalize the matches. The players were also able to play several individual matches.
Upcoming sports events
Next weekend CB Xàtiva will attend the third and last day of the Jocs Esportius in the sub-15 category, which is held in Enguera and will decide the first positions and the qualifiers for the regional championships in June. Mª José Mompó will travel to Soria to play the Senior Territorial Tournament. The club will also be present in the third and last day of the Autonomous Club League that will take place on Sunday in Aspe.
