Defeated by Petro Luanda in the quarter-finals (79-72), AS Salé was eliminated from the first edition of the Basketball Africa League. The Corsairs fought a good fight against the Angolans, but lacked concentration and lucidity in the last breaths of one of the best matches of the African tournament.

It’s over for AS Salé! The Moroccan formation leaves the BAL after its defeat in the quarterfinals against Petro Luanda (79-72). The Corsairs, however, showed a much better face than in the previous confrontation against the Angolans. Led by 8 points at halftime, the representatives of national basketball fished out of individualism and sometimes out of nervousness, facing an opponent better prepared and more organized. If in the defensive phase, the performance improved significantly, the alternatives were lacking in attack. Terrell Stoglin’s 30 points and Abderrahim Najah’s strength of character weren’t enough. From now on, it is a question of drawing the lessons that should be drawn from this participation and attempting to strengthen the group with new blood. The difference in the numbers was especially felt in the level of replacements. And to be competitive at this level, AS Salé will have to regain the osmosis that allowed them to win their first African title in 2017. In the semifinals, Petro Luanda will face Zamalek, winner of FAP Yaoundé (82-53) earlier in the evening.
