Lavaur: Maxime wants to become a professional badminton player

Licensed at the Volant d’Oc Vauréen for six years, Maxime Greboval, 19, is increasing his training sessions and fine-tuning his physical preparation. He wants to be ready for the French championships in Parabad which will take place from July 2 to 4 in Carquefou near Nantes. Suffered from achondroplasia, a genetic disease characterized by the stopping of bone growth, Maxime Greboval will compete in his 3rd French Championships in Parabad in the SH6 category reserved for short people. “After two first editions in 2019 and 2020 where I finished 4th in singles and second in doubles, I hope to improve my results”, comments the young man, smiling. Graduated in hospitality but in reconversion to the accounting profession, Maxime Greboval does not intend to stop there and wishes to devote all his time to badminton. “My ambition is to become a professional player,” he says. Like his model Lucas Mazur, world champion in 2017 and 2019 of disabled badminton, Maxime Greboval wants to climb the ranks and win titles. In France, in Europe and in the world. “The Grail would be to participate in the Paris Olympics in 2024,” he assures us. An ambition that Jeffrey Perrin his coach confirms. “Maxime sleeps, eats and lives badminton. He has the capacity to reach the top level, today he lacks the financial means to be able to compete in international competitions that will allow him to gain experience”. Even if he knows that the road is long, Maxime Greboval therefore devotes all his time to badminton: he trains about twenty hours a week, with his coach and with the other license holders of the Volant d’Oc vauréen, the rest. of the time he has a series of meetings with local businesses. Its objective is to find new partners and sponsors to finance its preparation and its next trips to international competitions… when the health situation permits. For the moment Vitalys, Badminton Bear and the town of Lavaur have joined the “pool” of partners of the native of Lavaur. Without a doubt, the start of a promising career.
