Giro d’Italia, the 16th stage Sacile-Cortina d’Ampezzo live: parties

The decisive day arrives, but the weather changes the route: there will be no Fedaia pass and Pordoi. From 212 km you go to 153. There is Nibali despite the apprehension of the eve

The hardest day of the Giro was turned upside down by the weather: stage 16, Sacile-Cortina, initially of 212 km but then shortened to 153 following the changes made. We do not leave at 10.50, but at 11.30. You regularly tackle the long climb of Crosetta (11.6 km), just after the start, to cross the Cansiglio plateau. The descent towards the lake of Santa Croce is challenging and precedes a short ascent on the slopes of the Nevegal to reach Belluno. Then the Cordevole valley crossing Agordo. From there you change, no Fedaia and no Pordoi. We will head directly towards Passo Giau, of which we will also face the descent towards Cortina d’Ampezzo

The “real” Giau in detail: 9.9 km at 9.3% average, with peaks of 14% at the beginning. There are 13 km of very fast descent, then at 1500 meters, after crossing the bridge over the Boite, the road starts to climb again with gentle slopes (5%). The arrival in the center of Cortina, in front of the bell tower, celebrates the Winter Olympics of Milan-Cortina 2026. Flying finish line with bonuses in Sottoguda (km 119): 3 ”, 2” and 1 ”. Upon arrival, bonuses of 10 “, 6” and 4 “.
