Austria’s national team has to do without ÖFB star Marko Arnautovic in the penultimate test match before the European Championship on Wednesday (9 p.m., live on ORF1) in Middlesbrough against England. Team doctor Michael Fiedler announced this on Sunday morning at the ÖFB camp in Bad Tatzmannsdorf.
The China legionnaire is still suffering from the aftermath of a muscle injury in his right thigh that he suffered a few weeks ago. “We take his muscle injury seriously and are on the right track,” said Fiedler. “But we will definitely wait for the England game and not risk any injury.”
According to team boss Franco Foda, Arnautovic will play against Slovakia at the EM dress rehearsal on June 6th (5 p.m., live on ORF1) in Vienna. There is also a question mark behind Karim Onisiwo. The Mainz player broke off Sunday training because of knee pain. Initially, there was no further information on the severity of the injury.
Baumgartlinger gave the all-clear
Stefan Ilsanker, who was still cold, did not even come to the Sunday session. “He is not yet one hundred percent fit, we want to give him time,” said Fiedler.
