Fantasy Baseball Today: Luis Garcia enters must-roster territory, Marcell Ozuna and Corey Kluber are out

By Mike Shildt tear up the commissioner’s office For Adolis Garcia, it’s just another day in the world of baseball. Additionally, we have been faced with a variety of injury reports as Marcell Ozuna will be out for 5-6 weeks, Corey Kluber will be closed for at least four weeks, and Luke Voit has a sloping load. But let’s stay positive.

And how do we do that? I think we’re getting closer to Chris Paddack. The final line wasn’t particularly exciting as he only scored two over six innings of a one-run ball against the Brewers. However, the spin rate of his fastball remained higher than it did in his 2019 breakout season. And he has a new confidence in his curveball. Before he went to the IL, he only threw it 6% of the time. In four starts since his return, he throws it 11.7% of the time. We’re not there yet, but the foundation is being built!

Garcia enters must-roster territory

Astros SP / RP Luis garcia made his first quality start of the season against the Elite Dodgers lineup. He went six innings, allowing no deserved runs, two hits and a walk. He knocked out seven batters with 11 swinging strikes for 100 pitchers. He now has an ERA of 2.93 with a whip of 1.02 and is still 43% on the roster.

Next week he gets a two start week. This is one of the reasons it should be discontinued immediately. The bigger reason is that the Astros are now dealing with a Lance McCullers injury and have already made the decision to move Cristian Javier to the bullpen. Garcia has done well in tough matchups this year (like against the Dodgers) and he has the minor league track record to back that up. Now get him into your squad and line-up for a 10 week two-start lineup.

Kaprielian serves as a powerful streamer

A’s SP/RP James Kaprielian may not be the top pitching contestant in baseball, but it certainly was Wednesday’s top streaming option. He hid the Mariners for seven innings, which was easily the best of his three MLB starts – at least on paper. In addition to seven innings, Kaprielian only allowed two hits and two walks. That is the good news; Now let’s look under the hood.

Kaprielian knocked out four batters and induced only four swinging strikes during the entire outing. His speed was also far below. He averaged just 91.7 mph on the fastball, which was over 93 mph on his first two starts. The better news is he’s pulling the Mariners back next week.

“To be honest, not my best stuff today,” said Kaprielian after the start on Wednesday. “It was one of those mental games that I just had to play against each other. Catcher Aramis Garcia really helped me make adjustments. Just move the ball and go before counting. Knowing that I wasn’t having my best things, I wanted to go out and use my defense. “

The RP capable starter also has a week with two starts next week.

Most traded players in CBS leagues at the moment

Rangers SP Danish dunning: I certainly don’t understand why Dunning is the most traded player (for or away) but Chris pointed out how strong his month of May was. People wanted to sell it high, and if they got rid of it before its last launch, they would do well. Reminder operated with smoke and mirrors. It doesn’t make a lot of sweeping hits and doesn’t have great fastball speed.

Rockies from Charlie Blackmon: His expected hit average and hit percentage look so much better than his actual numbers, so Blackmon screams buy low. However, its old age has likely given some fantasy managers a break. Blackmon just wasn’t good at Coors Field this year. It won’t last. This is a buying opportunity provided you believe it can return as much as 75% of shape. He does not strike out and goes more. The raw statistics will likely catch up with the expected statistics.

Citizens of Victor robs: I like the idea of trading for him now while he is in the IL if you are in a Dynasty Roto (or any category league). If he comes back and hits ninth instead of eighth in that order, he can bring you an average of .270 with a series of steals. On all of the starts he made prior to the IL stint where he was not in eighth place, Robles was at a 39-steal attempt pace.

Brewer 1B / 2B Keston Hiura: There is no doubt that he is talented, but he still has to find himself. Sure, the numbers have improved on Triple-A, but the strikes have continued. Chris is skeptical that he will ever get back to 2019 shape, but this still makes sense as a golden opportunity in Dynasty leagues as its price may never be cheaper than it is now.

Rays of Austin Meadows: The divisions against left-handers over the past two years have been brutal. It’s fair to ask if he’ll manage to break away from it and become an everyday star. The firing angle is the biggest problem – it just hits too many flyballs.

Blue Jays SP Nate Pearson: The injuries accumulate over the years. He was drafted in 2017 and has only thrown 150.1 innings. He couldn’t be up on the hill enough, and that’s a really important skill a young pitcher can show. There are very good reasons to ask questions about Pearson. At this point we cannot be sure whether his future role is as a starter or in the bullpen.

Phillies SP Aaron How it works: In his last start against Miami, he completed six innings and only allowed two hits, three walks and one well-deserved run. He knocked out six batters with 14 swinging strikes for 97 pitches. This is an easy buy for me in both Redraft and Dynasty leagues. He has his best xERA since 2018.
