Ecuador accumulated 14 medals in the Judo Pan American Cup

Quito, May 25 (The Street) .- Ecuador’s national judo team accumulated a total of 14 medals, in the Judo Youth Pan American Super Cup, which was held at the Voltaire Paladines Polo Coliseum. The event brought together a total of 118 athletes from 15 countries of the American continent.

The Ecuadorian team registered one gold medal, five silver and eight bronze. Likewise, the athletes reached five seventh places and eight fifth places.

Phenomenal Ecuadorian performance

The long-awaited gold medal was achieved by judoka Bryan Garboa, in the 60 kilogram division. The tricolor later defeated his compatriot Juan Ayala in the final instance. The latter was awarded the silver medal.

The bronze medals for the national squad were achieved by Sheccid Rivera, at 52 kilos, after falling in the semifinals against the Venezuelan Fabiola Díaz. Meanwhile, Kevin Ayala fell, also in the 60 kilogram semis category, in his duel against champion Garboa.

On the other hand, Byron Guillén, obtained the bronze after losing in other semifinals against the Mexican Robin Jara. Meanwhile, the rest of the medals were obtained through Mathías Coronel, in the 73 kg; Kevin Cuero, in the 90s; Cristián Saquinaula, in the 100; César Aguirre, in the more than 100 kilograms; and Sandy Ango, in the more than 78 kg of the ladies category.
