Club receives modest tribute: “I hope that agreements are honored,” said Mayor De fauw | Jupiler Pro League

The city of Bruges is anticipating a champions party tonight. The Bruges mayor Dirk De fauw has made clear agreements to ensure that the champions celebration after the home game against Genk run smoothly. “Now it’s up to everyone present to stick to it.”

On Thursday, after the final whistle against Anderlecht, the party started in full force near the Jan Breydel Stadium. After blood-curdling play-offs, Club Brugge could finally celebrate the title.

The corona measures did go out for a while. At the practice complex in Westkapelle, the players ‘bus was met by the supporters’ legion against the agreements made with the city. Some Club players and also coach Philippe Clement then joined the crowd.

“To prevent this, a short ceremony will be held outside the stadium today”, says Bruges mayor Dirk De fauw, who was angry earlier this week at the sight of the images.

“From a stage, without contact with supporters and with face masks, the players will be able to show the cup to the public between 9.15 and 9.45 pm.”

The Bruges mayor Dirk De fauw expects that a lot of supporters will come to the stadium to celebrate the title, but now asks everyone (including the players) to respect the corona measures.

“We have made good, clear agreements with the catering industry and with the club”, says mayor De fauw. For example, cafes are not allowed to set out a terrace, but window sales are allowed until 10 pm. ”

“We also ask supporters to respect the corona measures and not to bring Bengal fires.”

Test event with 350 Club volunteers

According to the mayor, the test event for which Club Brugge received permission will be more likely to have 350 attendees instead of 500 of whom previously mentioned. De fauw: “Volunteers, stewards and employees in particular can take a seat in the stands as a thank you for their commitment to the club.”
