Cherry becomes the first “Daugavpils” football player to be invited to the Latvian national team

Apart from Ķiršs, for the first time, Valmiera goalkeeper Rihards Matrevics and RFS midfielder Renārs Varslavāns have also been invited to the national team. Like this trio, “Liepāja” goalkeeper Krišjānis Zviedris has not played any matches in the national team.

Compared to the previous camp in March, this time the Latvian national team will not have goalkeeper Pavel Steinbor, midfielder Krister Tober and Daniel Ontuzhan from those playing abroad.

The team will gather together on May 30 in Latvia, where they will prepare in intensive mode for the tense three-game cut-off during the week. Currently, most football players abroad enjoy their holidays, but despite this, everyone is happy to join the national team and resume training before the time set in the clubs.

On June 4, the Latvian national team will compete with Lithuania in the first game of the Baltic Cup at the Daugava Stadium at 7 p.m. Three days later, a test game with Germany is planned for the field trip, but on June 10, the second Baltic Cup game with the hosts is planned in Estonia.

The Latvian Football Federation (LFF) informs that the match against the Lithuanian national team will be organized on June 4 as an official test match of the European Football Federation (UEFA).

So far, the Latvian national team has played the last game on March 30, when in the game of subgroup G of the 2022 World Cup qualifying tournament, there was a draw of Turkey 3: 3.
