Bundesliga: Salzburg ends the season in a masterly way

In both teams there were four personnel changes in the starting eleven compared to the 31st round. The Tyrolean Benjamin Pranter was allowed to act as captain in his last professional match. With the “cops”, the coaching team was honored before kick-off. Coach Jesse Marsch, who has moved to German runner-up RB Leipzig, celebrated his farewell game. While Rene Aufhauser will take over FC Liefering, it is still unclear where Franz Schiemer is going.

Even before the start of the game, the Wattener also paid tribute to the master and stood in line when the game came in. In a good mood in front of 3,000 spectators, the Salzburgers control the action from the start. Already in the eighth minute, Bernardo scored the 1-0 with a shot into the far corner after preliminary work by Noah Okafor.

Berisha meets in Triplepack

Berisha initially failed to accommodate an assist from Adeyemi in the empty goal and was already a step too far ahead (12th). With the goal, however, it worked in the 26th minute, in which the German was served by Brenden Aaronson in the top and netted. The Tyroleans found two top chances in the first half: A quick advance by Zlatko Dedic was parried by goalie Nico Mantl (10th), in the 27th minute Dedic had bad luck because the rod prevented a goal.

The “cops” meanwhile made everything clear just before the break with the 3-0. Berisha converted a penalty flat into the left corner (43.). This was preceded by a foul by Fabian Koch on Andre Ramalho, a contact on the leg was decisive for the whistle.

The Wattener found their first good chance after changing sides. With a shot by Nikolai Baden Frederiksen, Mantl was able to stand out once more (50th). On the other hand, Berisha made his triple pack perfect – after a remarkable combination by Adeyemi and Aaronsen (66th). Sekou Koita, who, like Mohamed Camara, returned after a doping ban, shot over it alone in the 70th minute in front of WSG goalie Benjamin Ozegovic.

In addition to coach Marsch, Ramalho could also have played his farewell game on the Salzach. The defender was replaced in the 74th minute. He could now follow the call of his ex-trainer Roger Schmidt to Eindhoven.
