The EJU Training Camp in Benidorm (Alicante) 2021 has ended after a week of training on the tatami with more than 250 athletes of 24 different nationalities. A large part of the judokas classified for the Games have participated from Spain: Ana Pérez, Alberto Gaitero, Julia Figueroa and María Bernabéu, among others.

The trainings, separated between men and women to follow all the protocols established by the European Judo Union (EJU) and by the Royal Spanish Federation of Judo and Associated Sports (Rfejyda), have been of the highest level, counting among their participants world and Olympic champions and medalists. In addition, many of the participating judokas are already summoned for the next world event in Budapest and for the Games in Tokyo.

Specifically, the presence of 2 Olympic champions of Rio 2016, Argentina, has stood out. Paula Pareto (-48Kg) and the Czech Lukas Krpalek (-100Kg); the current world champions: Daria Bilodit (-48Kg), Lukhumi Chkhvimiani (-60Kg) and Noel Van’T End (-90Kg).

The Rfejyda installed more than 1,000 square meters of tatami, thus betting on these important activities in the face of the preparation of athletes and the reactivation of international activities, thus consolidating the province of Alicante as the venue for this international summer training camp.

The activity had the collaboration of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) and the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation, which, through the PAC CV Pre-Olympic aid program, aims to support competitions and concentrations in order to prepare Spanish teams and athletes for the next Tokyo Olympics.

The next appointment of our athletes will be the World championship which will be played in Hungary between June 6 and 13, the last scoring event for the Tokyo Games that will start at the end of July.
